YEARS AGO, THE FIRST ISSUE OF "GŁOS LUDU” ("VOICE OF THE PEOPLE”) WAS PUBLISHED
Exactly 80
years ago the first issue of "Głos Ludu” was published. The publisher was the
Communist Party of Czechoslovakia, and the place of publication was Fryštát. The
newspaper cost a crown and consisted of four pages. Today it is one of two
Polish newspapers published outside the Fatherland.

CIESZYN: MAREK GRYCZ STILL HEADMASTER OF POLISH ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Marek Grycz
will officially take over as headmaster of the Polish Elementary School and
Kindergarten in Český Těšín starting July 1. He had already been in charge of
the institution for eighteen years, but formally his predecessor Stanislav
Folwarczny was still the headmaster.

SCHOOL GIRL WON WITH STORY ABOUT AUSCHWITZ
Jaroslava
Lyskova from Bukovec, a student of class 1b of the J. Słowacki Polish Gymnasium
in Český Těšín, has become the winner of the 11th edition of the literary
competition "Word and Identity.” She won first prize in the category of Polish
students for her work entitled "Beauty in Hell.” The organizer of this event,
inspired by the fate of the Polish literary scholar and émigré Maria Danilewicz
Zielińska, is the M. Konopnicka High School No. 3 in Włocławek.
TOURNAMENT
OF TOLERANCE: NARROWLY MISSED ADVANCING FROM THE GROUP
The Polish
national team in the Czech Republic returned over the weekend from another
edition of the Tournament of Tolerance, a soccer event that brings together
national minorities in the RC to compete for the RC Senate Cup. After our
team's third place last year, this time the competition did not go Roman
Konderla's team's way.
