It was with
disbelief that I received the decision to reduce the number of students
admitted to the Polish Gymnasium in Český Těšín in the 2026/2027 school year
from 90 to 80. Not only is the decision itself disturbing, but also the way it
was introduced - without open discussions, without consultation with the
community that makes up this school and which this school is supposed to serve.
Friday
officially marks the end of the school year, but some establishments celebrated
the end of school on Thursday. One of them was the Henryk Sienkiewicz
Elementary School with the Polish Language of Teaching in Jablunkov, where 304
students began their summer vacation. There was joy, tears of emotion and...
goosebumps during the performance of Adam Burian and Tiana Berenika Skupień.
Modernization
of the Těšín Theater in Český Těšín has been underway for 14 months. The
theater is expected to open to the public in December. On Thursday, project
partners and journalists were able to enter the construction site for the first
time.
All ten
fastest runners in this year's edition of the POHO50 run in Karwina over the distance
of 50 km crossed the finish line in under 5 hours. Jan Kohut (3:11.47, Fénix
Sport) triumphed in Saturday's run, ahead of Štěpán Vondrášek (4:03.31,
Teamdejvid) and Kateřina Weiszová (4:05.33, Fénix Sport). This year's POHO50
boasted a record number of runners.
