At Wednesday's meeting, Hawierzów councilors dismissed the city's incumbent mayor, Ondřej Baránek. Iveta Kočí-Palkovská, an active cultural activist in the city, was elected to replace him. Franciszek Jopek from Łomna Dolna, a student in class 2a at the Juliusz Słowacki Polish Middle School in Czeski Cieszyn, is a prime example of this. He has been skiing slalom since childhood. Currently, he is reaching for the highest laurels in alpine skiing. On December 14, he won the RC junior sprint championship title, and shortly thereafter, the gold medal in the RC Cup individual race.
