CIESZYN: MURAL COMMEMORATES PROMINENT POLISH PEOPLE
Czeski
Cieszyn has two great Poles. This happened due to a mural that was created on
the wall of a tenement house at 10 Strzelnicza St. It features a copy of Jan
Matejko's painting entitled "Astronomer Copernicus, or Conversation with
God". It was officially unveiled on Monday.
NOVEMBER 27 WARNING STRIKE. POLISH SCHOOLS WILL ALSO JOIN IN
Workers at
elementary, secondary and kindergarten schools are preparing for a warning
strike. The Czech-Moravian Trade Union of School Employees (ČMOS PŠ) has
planned it for Monday 27. They argue that "the quality of education for
our children" is at stake. Without additional money – it is difficult to
achieve, however.
AUTUMN
MEETING ON GOOD GROUNDS: CLASSICS OF POLISH ROCK SOUNDED IN
CIERLICKO-GRODZISZCZE
The
Contiband band with its program "40 Years of Polish Rock" performed
on Thursday evening at the Grunt No. 135 Hotel in Cierlicko-Grodziszcze within
the autumn Thursday meetings organized by Tadeusz and Karin Farny. There was
plenty of great music and fun.
CEREMONIAL
MEETING WITH THE POLISH MINORITY AT THE EMBASSY OF POLAND IN PRAGUE
Representatives
of the Polish minority in the Czech Republic met on Wednesday, November 15, at
the Polish Embassy in Prague for a ceremony marking the 105th anniversary of
Poland's independence on November 11. The meeting was attended, among others,
by representatives of the Congress of Poles in the Czech Republic, the main
board of the Polish Cultural and Educational Association in the Czech Republic
and Polish social activists active in various fields for Polishness in the
Czech Republic.
