clapping loudly – this is how MEPs bid farewell to Jerzy Buzek during
Thursday's session of the European Parliament. A native of Śmiłowice, the
former Polish prime minister spent 20 years in Brussels and announced that he
would not seek another term in the European structures.

multimedia exhibition "The 1863-64 Uprising,” prepared by the Polish History
Museum, opened in the courtyard of Vilnius' Palace of the Grand Dukes of

Toporkiewicz family is an example of a family that appeared in Cieszyn Silesia
in the second half of the 19th century. The progenitor of the family's Silesian
line was one of many immigrants from Galicia seeking work and a better life on
the Olza River.
