TŘINEC: THE
COLORS OF THE CITY—GRAFFITI AS AN ARTISTIC MANIFESTO
Twenty
artists from Poland, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia will gather in Třinec on
Saturday to collaborate on a large-scale graffiti piece. The event will serve
as the finale of the week-long street art festival "Barvy města 3nec,”
organized as part of the Třinec Cultural Summer. It will take place from 2:00
p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Sosna neighborhood, by the retaining wall next to the
parking lot behind the Hruška store.
GRAIN
HARVEST IS LIKELY TO BE THE LOWEST IN 14 YEARS
This year’s
harvest forecast, based on data from July 15, confirmed a decline in yields of
major grains and rapeseed compared to last year. Furthermore, the grain harvest
is likely to be the lowest in 14 years. This is according to the latest report
from the Czech Statistical Office (CUS). Farmers in the region confirm the
poorer harvest.

HERBS, MUSIC, AND CELEBRITIES AT AN EXTRAORDINARY CAFÉ
The latest
edition of the Piotrowice Café, held at the PZKO House in Piotrowice on Sunday
afternoon, once again drew a large crowd, confirming that the concept behind
these gatherings is a great success. The guests were Barbara Kuchta from the
Naturalist’s House in Hażlach, Ema Trávníčková—a pianist, ophthalmologist, and dancer
with the "Błędowice” Cultural Association—and Roman Strzondała, an
astrophysicist and astronomy popularizer.

Preparations
are underway for the new season of the Tipsport Ekstraliga ice hockey league.
With one month to go before the start of the season, the Třinec Steelers are
focusing on fine-tuning their form through exhibition games. Following
Tuesday’s 6–2 victory over Frydek-Mistek, Boris Žabka’s team defeated Slovan
Bratislava 6–5 on Thursday in Liptovský Mikuláš.
